Cryptocurrency heist hacker returns $260m back in funds


  • The hacker behind the cryptocurrency heists has returned half of the $600m (£433m) assets stolen.

  • The firm affected on Tuesday, Poly Network wrote a message on Twitter, stating the individual to get in touch to work out a solution.

  • The hacker then posted messages guaranteed to return funds, stating to be "not very interested in money".

  • On the next day, Poly Network said it had received $260m back.

  • The company, a blockchain platform which let its users to swap different types of digital tokens, stated on Twitter that it had been sent back three cryptocurrencies, including $3.3m worth of Ethereum , $1m worth of Polygon and $256m worth of Binance Smart Chain (BSC)

  • A total sum of $84m in Polygon and $269m in Ethereum tokens tokens has yet to be recovered.
