Thailand will roll out a new global e-visa system on January 1, 2025, allowing travelers to apply for visas entirely online. The initiative aims to simplify the application process, reduce the need for in-person embassy visits, and support the country’s tourism goals. The platform, available at thaievisa.go.th, supports multiple languages and secure payment options.

This digital upgrade will apply across 94 Thai embassies and consulates, streamlining visa issuance worldwide. Once approved, travelers will receive a digital e-visa via email, replacing the traditional visa stickers. It’s expected to speed up processing and reduce administrative burdens for both applicants and immigration officers.
To further modernize travel procedures, Thailand will also introduce a Digital Arrival Card system starting May 2025. Travelers must complete this card online within 72 hours of departure, replacing the old TM6 paper form. This initiative aligns with Thailand's goal of offering a seamless digital travel experience.
Together, the e-visa and digital arrival card represent a major leap in Thailand’s travel modernization efforts. These changes are designed to make travel more accessible and efficient while boosting the country’s tourism-driven economy.
